Welcome!

Welcome to my new blog!

My Hubby Joel and I live east of Seattle in a young city called Sammamish.

When we bought our house here just over six years ago, we knew we wanted some space around us. We had been living in apartments since we moved to the US in 1996, so we were certainly ready for more 'breathing' room! Our house lies on just over a half an acre, which by american standards may seem fairly small, but in the UK, that's hard to find unless you want to pay an awful lot of pennies!

One of the things I love about living in Sammamish is that we are just fifteen minutes from Redmond and Issaquah and around twenty five minutes from Seattle by car. There are many open spaces and parks here, so there is always somewhere to enjoy nature. Beaver Lake Park and Preserve is one of my very favourite places to visit! We are also about thirty minutes from the Cascade Mountains, so we get quite a few visiting wildlife which we personally love! We are big believers in humans and wildlife living together, which I know some people don't agree with but we do. It's such a treat to see the deer, hear the singing of the birds, the rustling of all the trees and the sounds of the crazy racoons at night! I simply love it. Joel sometimes does find me rather amusing as I do get quite excited whenever we get a new visitor!

I developed an interest in photography a few years with the help and encouragement of my good friend Cynthia. I have always loved wildlife and nature, so I have turned my focus on that for some time now. I would love to share my photos and stories of life in our 'wild' garden and around Sammamish.

I do hope you enjoy :)
